However, organizations struggle to move beyond ad-hoc training toward sustained, actionable competence. Current research has mapped what AI literacy entails but left the organizational process underexplored through which these competencies become actionable. We address this gap by theorizing GenAI sensitization as an organizationally embedded process operating at the intersection of AI literacy, governance, and organizational practice. Drawing on 20 semi-structured interviews with human resource professionals analyzed through Gioia methodology, we identify four aggregate dimensions: organizational factors, individual factors, sensitization practices, and tensions and barriers. Four structural tensions and barriers characterize conditions that explain why responsible GenAI use fails even among AI-literate employees. The sensitization profile matrix synthesizes these findings into a diagnostic framework for organizational practice, guiding employees toward responsible GenAI use.

Aufnahme in das SAP Academic Board DACH

Wir freuen uns sehr darüber, dass Prof. Dr. Reinhard Schütte im Rahmen der SAP ACC 2026 in das SAP Academic Board DACH berufen wurde.

Yet existing approaches typically rely on static demographic proxies that fail to capture the competitive dynamics and spatial consumer behaviour shaping actual store demand. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for estimating store-level market potential in geographically bounded local markets under limited availability of competitor sales data. Building on a localized adaptation of the Huff model, the framework integrates store attractiveness, consumer travel behaviour, and spatial demand distributions to approximate the potential customer volume a store can realistically attract relative to competing outlets. Rather than requiring observed revenue data, it infers competitive positions from observable store attributes and demographic configurations. The framework is designed for integration within retail IS, providing a spatially grounded foundation for data-driven pricing and assortment decisions at the local market level.

En Passant: How Section-Based LLM Processing Unlocks Full-Text Evidence in Systematic Literature Reviews
von Clemens Brackmann und Kathrin Nauth

Abstract: Systematic literature reviews (SLRs) are essential for synthesizing prior research, identifying trends, gaps, and future directions across various fields. However, SLRs are time-consuming and subject to human cognitive constraints that threaten their rigor, consistency, and replicability. Recent advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) provide transformative opportunities to enhance the efficiency and scope of literature reviews by automating repetitive tasks, analysing full-text analysis, and uncovering latent patterns. We propose a step-by-step LLM-integrated methodology for SLR that covers two stages currently underserved by existing tools: abstract screening and section-based fulltext analysis. The methodology explicitly addresses three known failure modes of prior automated approaches: context-window limitations (resolved through section-based document decomposition), hallucination risks (mitigated through narrow binary prompting and mandatory validation sampling), and replicability deficits caused by opaque tool fine-tuning (resolved by using general-purpose LLMs with fully documented prompts and decision rules). Challenges related to full-text accessibility, PDF parsing, and LLM consistency are acknowledged and addressed with concrete guidance. The methodology is primarily intended for systematic and structured literature reviews where comprehensive, traceable, and replicable coverage is the goal.

Keeping AI in Check: The SCARPI Process Model for Continuous Ethical Auditing of AI-Enabled IT Systems
von Clemens Brackman

Abstract: As artificial intelligence (AI) systems become deeply embedded in organizational IT infrastructures, the need for structured mechanisms to ensure ethical compliance has become urgent. Existing governance frameworks such as COBIT and ISO 19011:2018 provide foundation but lack procedures for continuously auditing AI Systems throughout their development. Through a systematic literature review across three major databases, this paper synthesizes existing guidance to address this gap proposing the SCARPI process model comprising Define Scope, Collect and Assess, Reflect and Plan, and Implement. Grounded in established IT governance and audit structures, SCARPI enables organizations to systematically identify and mitigate bias and fairness issues in AI systems through an iterative, stakeholder-informed approach. By integrating continuous auditing with transparency artifacts such as a Public Transparency Statement, SCARPI offers a concrete, governance-aligned path toward responsible and trustworthy AI deployment. This work represents a first step toward bridging the gap between AI accountability mechanisms and existing IT governance structures.

Pricing in Tempo: A Contextualized IS Taxonomy of Pricing Strategies for Dynamic Markets
von Clemens Brackmann

Abstract: As organizations deploy increasingly autonomous IS for pricing ranging from rule-based engines to AI-driven optimization systems, the absence of a theoretically grounded classification framework impedes both the configuration of these systems and their strategic alignment. Existing pricing strategy taxonomies, developed for stable market environments, fail to account for the technological, temporal, and contextual dimensions that characterize IS-mediated pricing in dynamic markets. This research addresses that gap by developing a contextualized taxonomy of pricing strategies as a Design Science Research artifact, following the taxonomy development method of Nickerson et al. [51] as extended by Kundisch et al. [35]. Grounded in a structured literature review of 473 peerreviewed publications, the taxonomy comprises 52 characteristics across 16 dimensions, organized along four meta-dimensions: Market & Competitive Environment, Strategic Requirements, Customer & Demand, and Operationalization. Evaluation against 50 real-world case studies reveals a critical IS-strategy misalignment: while 44 of 50 cases adopt dynamic pricing strategies, only 9 leverage AI or machine learning for execution, with the majority relying on tool-based optimization. This finding demonstrates the diagnostic value of the taxonomy's Analytical Maturity dimension in surfacing the gap between strategic pricing intent and actual IS capability. The resulting artifact enables organizations to configure pricing strategies in alignment with their technological maturity and strategic context and provides IS researchers with a reusable instrument for classifying and comparing pricing system deployments across sectors.

Abstract: Organizations invest heavily in IT systems yet frequently struggle to justify these investments because the expected benefits remain unspecified and thus not reached. A precondition for measuring the return on IT investments is a systematic prior identification of the impacts those systems are expected to produce. Existing impact catalogs provide a useful starting point but operate at a level of abstraction that prevents their direct application in organizational practice. What is missing is a method that guides the adaptation of generic catalog knowledge toward the specifics of a concrete organization. Drawing on a design science research approach, this article proposes a method for creating organization-specific IT impact catalogs through iterative knowledge specialization. Starting from a generic, process-centric organizational framework, the method incrementally incorporates knowledge about the IT system class, the industry, the company type, and ultimately the specific organization, terminating at the level of specificity at which concrete, observable, organization-specific impacts can be identified. The method is demonstrated through an application to an ERP system implementation at a wholesale company in the plumbing and heating sector. Interviews with organizational members and decision-makers provide evidence that the identified impacts materialize in practice. This contribution advances both the academic understanding of IT impact identification and the practical toolkit for benefit realization planning.

Abstract:

Computers moved from the basement onto the user's desk into their pocket and around their wrist. Not only did they physically converge to the user's space of action, but sensors such as CMOS, GPS, NFC, and LiDAR also began to provide access to the environment, thus situating them in the user's direct reality. However, the user and their computer exhibit fundamentally different perceptual processes, resulting in substantially different internal representations of reality.

Augmented and Mixed Reality systems, as the most advanced situated computing devices of today, are mostly centered around geometric representations of the world around them, such as planes, point clouds, or meshes. This way of thinking has proven useful in tackling classical problems including tracking or visual coherence. However, little attention has been directed toward a semantic and user-oriented understanding of the world and the specific situational parameters a user is facing. This is despite the fact that humans not only characterize their environment by geometries, but they also consider objects, the relationships between objects, their meanings, and the affordance of objects. Furthermore, humans observe other humans, how they interact with objects and other people, all together stimulating intent, desire, and behavior. The resulting gap between the human-perceived and the machine-perceived world impedes the computer's potential to seamlessly integrate with the user's reality. Instead, the computer continues to exist as a separate device, in its own reality, reliant on user input to align its functionality to the user's objectives.

This dissertation on Situated and Semantics-Aware Mixed Reality aims to get closer to Augmented and Mixed Reality experiences, applications, and interactions that address this gap and seamlessly blend with a user's space and mind. It aims to contribute to the integration of interactions and experiences with the physicality of the world based on creating an understanding of both the user and their environment in dynamic situations across space and time.

Method-wise, the research presented in this dissertation is concerned with the design, implementation, and evaluation of novel, distributed, semantics-aware, spatial, interactive systems, and, to this end, the application of state-of-the-art computer vision for scene reconstruction and understanding, together enabling Situated and Semantics-Aware Mixed Reality.

IIS-Publikation im "Journal Behaviour & Information Technology"

Wir freuen uns, dass der Artikel Is This Real Life? – Exploring Leadership Communication on Twitter/X von Dr. Christina, Strauss; Michael D., Harr und Prof. Torsten M., Pieper im Journal Behaviour & Information Technology veröffentlicht wurde.

With ongoing digitization and the proliferation of social media in both private and business environments, leadership communication has undergone profound change. In this vein, research increasingly acknowledges the role of “social CEOs” who engage with their stakeholders in genuine communications over social media. However, research on leaders’ distinct social media communication remains scarce. To address this gap, our study explores leadership communication via social media in comparison to traditional (non-social media) communication. Based on tweets and non-social media documents from 88 CEOs of worldwide leading companies, our results indicate that leaders use a distinct social media framing that is significantly different from their non-social media framing. Our findings have theoretical and practical implications for the understanding of leaders’ framing behavior as well as the resulting social media communication.
